It's Monday - What are you reading? and Musing Mondays

Hello all! It's Monday! What are you reading is a fun weekly meme hosted by Book Journey.

It's actually very similar to the Wednesday meme I participate in, WWW Wednesday, where you share what you've read/reviewed, what you're reading and what you plan on reading. It'll be fun to see if my current books or books I'm planning to read change in the next two days, haha.

Well, I havent been very good at reading lately, and subsequently horrible at blogging. On this blog, I've reviewed nothing. :/ Sorry guys! So what I've read and reviewed lately is essentially non-existent.

What am I reading? I'm currently reading The Perfect Hope by the one and only Nora Roberts, my hero. I dont read a lot of romance anymore, but every now and again I get a hankering for some passionate lovemaking between the pages of an interesting storyline, and when I do, I go straight for Nora.

This is the last in Nora's latest trilogy, which are my favorite of hers. I enjoy her stand-alones but her trilogies build so much, intertwining each book to keep you stringing along.

I'm enjoying it so far, and I'll hopefully be done with this by tomorrow, with
a review to follow later in the week. :)

What do I plan on reading? Okay, here's my problem. What I'm dying to read right now is The Giver  by Lois Lowry. I've read this book a hundred times, but it is the first book in a quartet ending with her newest release, Son, which I am desperate to read, but I wont let myself until I've reread the other three books that come before it. What's the dilemma? I have just gotten back onto the reading/reviewing wagon and I cant see myself committing to a four book series right now. I need to close up some other loose ends, catch up on some other reads. But I cant stop thinking about these books, I dont know what it is, but sometimes I feel like they literally call to me.

In my last post on WWW Wednesday, I was thinking I was going to read either Fever by Lauren DeStefano or Reached by Ally Condie. I really need to finish up this Ally Condie series, and check it off of my list, and I'm dying to read Fever, but I cant seem to get The Giver, et. al. out of my head. I guess we will see what I do in a few days when I let ya know what I'm reading next.

What are you reading?!

Musing Mondays, another fun weekly meme, this one hosted by Should Be Reading. This one asks the blogger to answer one of the following questions each week:
Describe one of your reading habits. Tell us what book(s) you recently bought for yourself or someone else, and why you chose that/those book(s).
Tell us what you’re reading right now — what you think of it, so far; why you chose it; what you are (or, aren’t) enjoying it.

Since the above references what I'm reading, maybe I'll talk about one of my reading habits.

My worst reading habit is not being able to put a book down, even if I hate it. One of my bookish goals this year is to learn how to put a book down if I dont like it. I guess I am too loyal to my books one I pick them up and then I begin to feel guilty when I dont finish it. In the last six years, I'd say there were maybe five books I stopped reading. Out of those five, there were TWO that I didnt pick back up at a later date to finish reading. It's my worst reading habit, because then I am stuck dragging through a not-so-great book that takes me a month or two to read, when I could be getting through two good books a week if I would just put it down.

Enough giving chances! If I get halfway through and I'm not digging it, I'm putting it down.

What's your musing this week?

Happy Readings! :)

  1. Nora Roberts is amazing. I don't know how she continues to crank out such great stories but she almost never disappoints me. I *still* haven't read the Giver. It's one of those books I keep meaning to read. The tragedies of a too large tbr pile.

Giver is one of the books everybody's talking about and RECOMMEND the most. I think I'm going to give it a try.

  4. I do the same thing with books I don't like keep reading & skimming until the end. There have been very few books that I simply couldn't finish - Wolf Hall is the only one that comes to mind. I know it's probably a bad habit, but I don't think it'll change any time soon.
